Hypnosis is simply a state of relaxation in which you remain aware of everything and in control at all times.
The most common uses of hypnosis in therapy are to relieve symptoms in one form or another. This can provide some benefit for some people for a short while.
Curative Hypnotherapy
This particular treatment aims to uncover and then to correct the cause of a problem, thus achieving a complete and permanent cure.
LESSERIAN™ Trademark
In recent years many practitioners have incorporated the word "Curative" in their literature, although their use of hypnosis is not that same as that described above. Due to concern over the confusion which was being caused by this, the trademark "Lesserian™" was registered to mark the difference.
The name "Lessrian™" Curative Hypnotherapy is, therefore, protected and denotes the method of treatment which requires the understanding of how people create their problems which is the necessary first step on the path to enabling a complete and permanent cure to be achieved.
The word 'Lesserian' was chosen to honour David Lesser - the originator of this specific treatment.

The college runs practical training courses in the Curative aspects of hypnotherapy. Courses are available to those who are 'beginners' in the field, as well as those who already have trained and/or hold qualifications in other uses of hypnotherapy. Courses are approved by and/or affiliated with all major hypnotherapy bodies (The Hypnotherapy Society, the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council, The Hypnotherapy Association, The UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations, The Organisation of Curative Hypnotherapists).
This organisation exists for the purpose of maintaining good academic, professional and ethical standards in the various types of hypnotherapy treatments.
Accredited Membership (the senior level) is only granted to those who have proved themselves to be an experienced and competent therapist.
The Organisation for Curative Hypnotherapists
This organisation exists for the purpose of improvidng standards in Curative methods of hypnotherapy.

As hypnosis is simply and only relaxation, there are no dangers or contra-indications.
However, the use to which hypnosis is put in treatment can mean that certain problems would prevent a person from undergoing treatment.
For example, if the type of hypnotherapy being used involves getting the patient to relive or re-experience strong, violent or upsetting emotions, then epilepsy, pregnancy, asthma or other stress induced physical symptoms would make having such treatment dangerous.
The hypnotherapist who offers symptom suppression as their treatment, will often refuse to treat those suffering severe depression. A warning to this effect can sometimes be found on hypnotic audio/video recordings.
As Lesserian™ methods do not work against the subconscious; do not try to suppress symptoms;
do not involve experiencing unwelcome emotions - there are NO contra-indications to Curative Hypnotherapy
We do NOT sell any tapes etc. nor do we even recommend their use. Such 'home use' items can do nothing more than attempt to treat symptoms (with all its attendant dangers).
Each person is unique and therefore deserves to be treated as such.
When attending for treatment, you may be offered an audio tape or CD to listen to between treatment sessions, but this is simply to 'oil the wheels' of treatment, helping you to relax easier and quicker, thus allowing more time for the actual treatment itself.
