Hypnosis

Hypnosis is simply a state of relaxation; a very normal, ordinary experience in which you remain aware of everything and in control at all times - just very pleasantly relaxed.

Hypnotherapy

The most common uses of hypnosis in therapy are to relieve symptoms in one form or another.  This can provide some benefit for some people for a short while.

Curative Hypnotherapy

This particular treatment aims to uncover and then to correct the cause of a problem, thus achieving a complete and permanent cure.

LESSERIAN™ Trademark

In recent years many practitioners have incorporated the word "Curative" in their literature and/or title despite providing more standard varieties of hypnotherapy. Due to concern over the confusion which was being caused by this, the trademark "Lesserian™ Curative Hypnotherapy " was registered to mark the difference.

The name "Lesserian™" Curative Hypnotherapy is therefore protected by law and denotes the method of treatment which requires the understanding of how people create their problems which is the necessary first step on the path to enabling a complete and permanent cure to be achieved.

The word 'Lesserian' was chosen to honour David Lesser - the originator of this specific treatment.

For more information on the legal requirements and standards of practice required by therapists entitled to use the trademark, please click here.

What Happens During A Session?

Initial Consultation: This is our chance to have a chat so that we can both find out more information from each other. You will be asked questions about how your problem or condition affects you now and relevant questions about your past, so that we can decide what changes or improvements you are seeking and what may be possible to achieve. Explanations about the treatment will be provided, your questions answered and reassurance given on any concerns you may have.

Once we have agreed on the desired outcome of the treatment, I will then give you the opportunity of finding out just how enjoyable hypnosis is, so you will see for yourself how pleasant this relaxation is and how easy it is for you to achieve.

At the end of this session our ‘action plan’ is agreed – you will know what to expect from the relaxation and the treatment itself, and I will know how you are likely to react and respond in subsequent sessions.

Payment will be taken for this consultation and an appointment agreed for your treatment session.

Treatment session: There is no set pattern to these sessions as every person and every problem is different. Depending on what is easiest and simplest for you, a variety of techniques will be employed to help you get the most out of the relaxation so that I can begin to question your subconscious about the reasons why you have been suffering your condition or problem. Being only relaxed, you will have been aware of the entire session; furthermore I will, of course, keep you apprised of progress made at each session.

This process continues until all facts are known about how and why your symptoms exist; identifying and then correcting the wrong information, so that it cannot have any effect or cause any reaction (problem) again in the future.

All techniques are simple and easy and you are guided every step of the way – after all, the easier and more enjoyable the process for you, the more you relax and the quicker I can locate and correct the cause of your symptom(s), enabling you to regain the life you deserve as simply and speedily as possible.

Contra-indications

As hypnosis is simply and only relaxation, there are no dangers or contra-indications to hypnosis itself, but some do exist for certain other types of hypnotherapy treatments.

For example, if the type of therapy being used involves getting you to relive or re-experience strong, violent or upsetting emotions; then epilepsy, pregnancy, asthma or other stress-induced physical symptoms would naturally mean that such treatment would be unwise. Similarly, the hypnotherapist who offers symptom suppression as their treatment, will often refuse to treat those suffering severe depression. A warning to this effect can sometimes be found on hypnotic audio/video recordings.

As Lesserian™ methods do not work against the subconscious; do not try to suppress symptoms; do not involve experiencing unwelcome emotions - there are NO contra-indications to Curative Hypnotherapy

Tapes, videos, CDs etc.

We do NOT sell any tapes, DVDs, etc. nor do we even recommend their use. Such 'home use' items can do nothing more than attempt to treat symptoms which has the potential to increase your suffering and hinder the progress of treatment.

Each person is unique and therefore deserves to be treated as such.

When attending for treatment, you may be offered a CD to listen to between treatment sessions, but this is simply to 'oil the wheels' of treatment, helping you to relax easier and quicker, thus allowing more time for the actual treatment itself.
