Hypnosis is simply a state of relaxation; a very normal, ordinary experience in which you remain aware of everything and in control at all times - just very pleasantly relaxed.
The most common uses of hypnosis in therapy are to relieve symptoms in one form or another. There are a wide range of different methods and interventions which fall under the general heading of hypnotherapy; however, I specialise in Curative Hypnotherapy.
Curative Hypnotherapy
This particular treatment aims to uncover and then to correct the actual cause of a problem, thus achieving a complete and long-lasting result. Only those therapists who achieve and maintain a 'standard of excellence' (through examination, continued professional development, training, etc) are able to be licenced as 'Lesserian Curative Hypnotherapists'
Lesserian™ Curative Hypnotherapy
The trademark 'Lesserian™ Curative Hypnotherapy' (LCH) is protected by law and is only permitted for use by therapists who fufil all criteria and hold a current licence.
The word 'Lesserian' was chosen to honour David Lesser - the originator of Curative Hypnotherapy - which forms the basis of LCH treatment. For more information on the legal requirements and standards of practice required by therapists entitled to use the trademark, please click here. (link will open in new page)
What Happens During A Session?
Initial Consultation: This is our chance to have a chat so that we can both find out more information from each other. You will be asked questions about how your problem or condition affects you now and relevant questions about your past, so that we can decide what changes or improvements you are seeking and what may be possible to achieve. Explanations about the treatment will be provided, your questions answered and reassurance given on any concerns you may have.
Once we have agreed on the desired outcome of the treatment, I will then give you the opportunity of finding out just how enjoyable hypnosis is, so you will see for yourself how pleasant this relaxation is and how easy it is for you to achieve.
At the end of this session our 'action plan' is agreed - you will know what to expect from the relaxation and the treatment itself, and I will know how you are likely to react and respond in subsequent sessions.
Payment will be taken for this consultation and an appointment agreed for your treatment session.
Treatment session: There is no set pattern to these sessions as every person and every problem is different. Depending on what is easiest and simplest for you, a variety of techniques will be employed to help you get the most out of the relaxation so that I can begin to question your subconscious about the reasons why you have been suffering your condition or problem. Being only relaxed, you will have been aware of the entire session; furthermore I will, of course, keep you apprised of progress made at each session.
This process continues until all facts are known about how and why your symptoms exist; identifying and then correcting the wrong information, so that it cannot have any effect or cause any reaction (problem) again in the future.
All techniques are simple and easy and you are guided every step of the way; after all, the easier and more enjoyable the process for you, the more you relax and the quicker I can locate and correct the cause of your symptom(s), enabling you to regain the life you deserve as simply and speedily as possible.
The college runs practical training courses in LCH treatment and the Curative aspects of hypnotherapy. Courses are available to those who are 'beginners' in the field, as well as those who already have trained and/or hold qualifications in other uses of hypnotherapy. Courses are approved by and/or affiliated with all major hypnotherapy bodies (The National Hypnotherapy Society, the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council, The Hypnotherapy Association, The UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations).
The National Hypnotherapy Society
This organisation exists for the purpose of maintaining good academic, professional and ethical standards in the various types of hypnotherapy treatments.
As well as being a Registered Supervisor for this organisation, I am an Accredited Member. This is the senior level of membership and is only granted to those who have proved themselves to be an experienced and competent therapist.
This organisation is a non-profit making organisation and is a leading independent professional body in Britain representing approved hypnotherapists in active practice.
I have been granted Full Membership (the senior level) which is only granted to those who have proved themselves to be an experienced and competent therapist.
The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council
CNHC is the UK regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners. Its key function is to enhance public protection by setting standards for registration with CNHC. The CNHC ‘quality mark' is being recognised as the hallmark of quality for the sector. This means that the general public, and those who commission the services of complementary healthcare
practitioners, will be able to choose with confidence by looking for the CNHC quality mark. The Department of Health has recommended you only consult with someone who is CNHC registered.
As hypnosis is simply and only relaxation, there are no dangers or contra-indications to hypnosis itself, nor to LCH methods, but some do exist for certain other types of hypnotherapy treatments.
For example, if the type of therapy being used involves getting you to relive or re-experience strong, violent or upsetting emotions; then epilepsy, pregnancy, asthma or other stress-induced physical symptoms would naturally mean that such treatment would be unwise. Similarly, the hypnotherapist who offers symptom suppression as their treatment, will often refuse to treat those suffering severe depression. A warning to this effect can sometimes be found on hypnotic audio/video recordings.
As Lesserian™ methods do not work against the subconscious; do not try to suppress symptoms;
do not involve experiencing unwelcome emotions - there are NO contra-indications to Lesserian Curative Hypnotherapy
We do NOT sell any tapes, DVDs, etc. Such 'home use' items can do nothing more than attempt to treat symptoms which has the potential to increase your suffering and hinder the progress of treatment.
Each person is unique and therefore deserves to be treated as such.
When attending for treatment, you may be offered a CD to listen to between treatment sessions, but this is simply to 'oil the wheels' of treatment, helping you to relax easier and quicker, thus allowing more time for the actual treatment itself.
